Nursing anesthetists strike: "The profession does not have the recognition it deserves", considers an association manager

State-certified nurse-anesthetists are on national strike on Monday, May 17. “Today, we appear to be essential to keep the health system upright. Unfortunately, the entire profession of nurse-anesthetists does not have the recognition it deserves, be it salary or legislative ”, estimated on the franceinfo channel Sylvain Leflond, vice-president of the National Association of Student Anesthesiologists.

While the profession, called upon during the health crisis, demands a better knowledge of its status, Sylvain Leflond added that it went through “Legislative changes”. “We just want to match the reality that is our job: a nurse-anesthetist is, more than a specialist nurse, a medical assistant in advanced practice. (…) In the hospital public service, our level of skills and training is not in line with our salary level ”, according to him.
