Prime Minister Jean Castex receives the social partners earlier in Matignon, Friday July 17.
Jean Castex has six big files to do with the social partners. Its priority is the post-coronavirus recovery plan, but for employers and unions, the priority for them is employment. It is for this reason that they are asking for a break on the first big issue, which is pension reform. Should we continue? Under what conditions? And with what timetable?
Another sticking point is the reform of unemployment insurance. Jean Castex wants to postpone the second part to early September, while the unions are calling for it to be abandoned. This morning it will also be a question of youth, decentralization and the future old age plan. The discussions promise to be dense. A delicate step today for the new head of government, who will have to prove that he is indeed the man of consultation and dialogue. The meeting must take place at 9 a.m.
