Specialized in freezers for medical use that can reach -86 °, the French Froilabo has seen its orders jump since the announcement of the imminent arrival of vaccines against Covid and in particular the first one announced, that of Pfizer-BioNTech which requires a storage at very low temperature.
They are only five in the world to manufacture these hi-tech freezers and one of them is French. Froilabo installed in the suburbs of Lyon produces devices capable of going down to -86 °. Supplier to laboratories and hospitals that store biological samples there, the company is preparing to welcome new requests related to the arrival of the first Covid-19 vaccines which require storage at very low temperatures.
20% more orders
Since the announcement of the marketing of the vaccine developed by the American Pfizer associated with the German BioNtech and requiring storage at -70 °, logistics are being organized at the global level to be able to transport and keep the doses. A sharp increase in demand which benefits the Lyon company. Orders (and requests for quotes) have jumped 20%, and every day these super freezers are shipped overseas. The larger ones with a capacity of 1000 liters can accommodate 300,000 doses of vaccine.
Froilabo has worked hard to increase its production and says it is capable of supplying several dozen freezers in a very short time. It remains to know the logistical organization decided by the French State for the storage and delivery of these vaccines.
