INSEE provides a social portrait of France in 2015. We learn a lot about couples’ relationship to money.
Share everything up to his money. This is the choice made by two thirds of the French. INSEE publishes a study which provides a social portrait of France in 2015. In Europe, the French are less numerous than their neighbors to account jointly. This is even more true in couples where both partners work. In this type of couple, one model prevails: one joint account and two separate accounts. “This allows you to keep a certain financial autonomy. On the one hand, we have the family, all the current expenses for the family, for the children, and then on the other hand, we keep this financial independence as a woman ”, explains a young woman.
Daily expenses
According to the study for large purchases like real estate, the decision is taken jointly. On the other hand, for daily expenses, it is often the woman who decides. In Europe, it is the Poles and the Portuguese who share the most, 90% of couples have only one joint account.
