Made in France: The famous Mercier bikes set up in the Ardennes

It is the return of a tricolor flagship on French territory: the famous Mercier bikes, which disappeared 20 years ago, will soon be produced in the Ardennes, in the town of Revin. The future assembly plant will employ 140 people by the end of 2021. 270 jobs are planned for 2026.

An oxygen balloon

The establishment of this factory represents an oxygen balloon in a region suffocated by the crisis. The Ardennes successively lost the companies Electrolux and Porcher. The arrival of Mercier therefore gives new hope. The company, born in Saint-Étienne (Loire) at the beginning of the 20th century, shone around the world in the 1960s thanks to the runner Raymond Poulidor. At the end of the 1970s, Mercier disappeared from circulation, until it was relocated to France.
