The sadness was immense, Tuesday, June 22, at the exit of the commercial court of Dijon (Côte-d’Or). The MBF Aluminum foundry was liquidated, the sole buyer not having been selected by the court. This judgment will lead to the elimination of the 270 permanent positions and “Puts a total of 300 jobs on the back burner”, by adding temporary workers and fixed-term contracts, according to a representative of the company’s CGT-CFDT-SUD intersyndicale.

Angry employees

The MBF Aluminum foundry, which manufactures engine casings and gearbox parts, had been placed in receivership at the beginning of November, being unable to repay its debts. Tuesday, the court did not accept the only takeover offer, brought by the French entrepreneur Michaël Azoulay. According to an observer of the file, this project, which provided for the take-over of just over 200 employees, was deemed insufficient in terms of financial guarantees and was weakened by the lack of order commitments from the company’s main customers. , Renault and PSA (Stellantis).

The employees let out their anger after the hearing. “I do not understand. (…) We work in pairs in the same company, and I tell my children how? ”, worried, very moved, Isabelle Da Costa, employee of the company for 25 years. At the foundry of Saint-Claude (Jura), employees are already organizing to resist: they want to prevent the departure of the machines, and obtain better severance pay.
