On the shores of Lac du Bourget, in Aix-les-Bains (Savoie), a seemingly pleasant subdivision is in fact a risky area. Several houses in the center are in danger of collapsing. One of the owners agreed to receive a team from France Télévisions. “There is the crack that joins the dining room and the hallway. The crack, it runs through my dining room“, Describes the owner. In the entrance, the floor opens in two. The damage is also visible upstairs. Even the frame of the house is affected.

Shave and rebuild

Ten owners of the subdivision face the same problem. Their houses were built in the 1980s above an old stone quarry. We can guess this quarry on photos taken in the 60s. It was then a huge open pit, turned into a landfill, then covered with a small layer of earth. This old landfill collapsing. The only solution is to raze and rebuild the houses.
