Hospital crisis: what government responses?

Hospital groups have called for action on June 16; caregivers who demand that their demands be taken into account in the full “Ségur de la santé”.

For weeks, they were applauded every evening by grateful French people. For their fight against Covid-19, they were even promised a medal. But while the crisis seems to be fading, the nursing staff of the public hospital are back to the niche. The anger remains intact, having come to light over a year ago. Massive strikes by emergency services across France, demonstrations, staff demanded wage increases, hires and an end to bed closures. At the end of November, the Prime Minister presented an emergency plan for the hospital for “Give oxygen to the community of caregivers”, but it is considered insufficient and the crisis is spreading.

Concrete answers expected

800 department heads then resigned from their administrative functions. The climate was tense when the health crisis arrived. Emmanuel Macron was even taken to task by doctors. The hospital will hold the shock, the President of the Republic will finally make his mea culpa in the heart of the crisis and announces a “Massive plan”. The “Ségur de la santé” was finally launched, the Prime Minister found himself facing 300 organizations demanding answers. They are expected by mid-July.
