Foundry MBF Alu in compulsory liquidation: “Bruno Le Maire is destroying all the foundries in France”, accuses the CGT

Renault Group announced on March 11 the sale of the Fonderie de Bretagne. The Minister of the Economy has validated a fund of 50 million euros intended for the retraining of personnel.

“Bruno Le Maire is destroying all the foundries in France”, accuses Wednesday June 23 on franceinfo Maël Le Goff, the day after the judicial liquidation for the MBF Alu foundry, based in Saint-Claude (Jura). “It’s him [le ministre de l’Économie] who validated the strategy of car manufacturers, it is he who sets up a fund of 50 million euros to lay off staff, while this money could be used as an investment for future energies ”, denounces the CGT delegate at the Fonderie de Bretagne, in Caudan (Morbihan).

On Friday, the government signed with the auto industry the creation of a “Support and retraining fund for employees in the automotive industry”. This fund, endowed with 50 million euros, is partly financed by Renault and PSA-Stellantis. It is mainly intended for the retraining of employees of subcontractors undergoing reorganization or compulsory liquidation.

“Renault and PSA relocate foundries abroad to increase their margins”

According to Maël Le Goff, the case of the Fonderie de Bretagne “Is comparable” to that of the MBF Alu foundry, with the difference that his company “Is a foundry integrated into the Renault group, not a subcontractor“. On both sites, “The problem of principals” arises. The trade unionist accuses “Renault and PSA” from “Relocate” foundry productions “In Brazil, Turkey, Spain, Portugal to simply increase their margins”.

“Our perspective is to stay within the Renault group, because the production volumes exist” and “The volumes must be shared between each company”, insists Maël Le Goff, the day after the resumption of work at the Fonderie de Bretagne after “8 weeks of strike”.
