Marie Rothhahn, in charge of access to rights at the Abbé Pierre foundation, was a guest on the television news of the franceinfo channel on Tuesday. She mentioned the end of the winter break.
Thirty thousand families risk losing their homes from Tuesday, June 1, date of the end of the winter break. The latter, which traditionally suspends rental evictions from November 1 to March 31, has been extended by two months by the government, due to the health crisis linked to Covid-19.“It can affect everyone, overnight, you can have a death in your family, fall into depression, have a serious illness, lose your job… It can happen to a lot of people”, said Marie Rothhahn, in charge of access to rights at the Abbé Pierre foundation, Tuesday June 1 on the franceinfo channel.
“The accommodation sector is totally congested”, continued the association manager when she mentioned the means of appeal for the evicted people. “Forty-three thousand places have been opened by the State, but there are no places available (…) Many people will find themselves on the street, wandering from hotel to hotel”, she alerted.
