Elimination of jobs at Danone: Yves Veyrier for the prohibition of redundancies “while we are disbursing public aid in billions”

“It is unacceptable that the primary concern is to reassure shareholders when employees are worried,” said Yves Veyrier, general secretary of the Force Ouvrière union.

Danone will cut up to 2,000 administrative positions, including “400 to 500” in France. Yves Veyrier, general secretary of Force Ouvrière, is surprised, Monday, November 23 on franceinfo, that the French agrifood giant is in difficulty when it has “Paid over one billion euros in dividends to shareholders”.

For Yves Veyrier, “What Danone says is a bit the same as Bridgestone”. According to him, companies are doing everything to “Promoting the profitability of the company and Danone is even clearer. This is to reassure shareholders. I said it this evening to the government, to the Prime Minister. It is time to put an end to these corporate attitudes. ”

“It’s absolutely incomprehensible”

“It is unacceptable that the primary concern is to reassure shareholders when employees are worried, when companies have benefited from public aid with the long-term partial activity to which Danone has been able to call”, denounces Yves Veyrier. “We said it, we must not authorize the payment of dividends”, when a company receives state aid, he recalls.

“There are places where we have succeeded at Airbus, at Renault, we have signed partial activity agreements which lead to the fact that there will be no forced departures”, welcomes the general secretary of Force Ouvrière. “It is absolutely necessary that in this situation, the government ensure that one prohibits the dry layoffs while one disburses public aid in blows of billions, precisely to preserve the activity and the employment”, insists Yves Veyrier.
