Discover ingenious furniture to save space

How to recover a few square meters in cramped apartments? This is the question many French people who are developing modern and modular furniture are trying to answer. Hugo, an economics student in Paris, for example discovered the table with adaptable legs on a design blog. By turning over the central plate and installing new fixings, the young man goes from a living room table to a dining table with a few turns of the screw. “The only limit is the imagination“, Explains Matthieu Bourgeaux, co-founder of TipToe. Renov’cave, a Parisian company, also offers storage space in the cellars. By leaving pipes and vents in the open, employees install plywood sheets to make furniture, floors and walls in dismal and inhospitable basements.

Modular beds and wardrobes

This enthusiasm for modularity is also found in bedrooms and for wardrobes and shelves. “We want big in very small. Once the bed is raised (…), we have two worlds in one“, Describes Didier Marguerite who offers a retractable bed. The swivel wardrobe allows it to store the equivalent of 1.20m linear on 70 cm wide. However, this cupboard costs 2,500 euros for a custom piece of furniture that can be blocked in the closed position.
