Conference on social dialogue: “There is a real change in tone” of the government, greets Yves Veyrier, secretary general of FO

Yves Veyrier, general secretary of Force Ouvrière (FO), greeted Friday July 17 on franceinfo the “Real change of tone” of the government after the meeting between the Prime Minister and the social partners in Matignon during the Conference on social dialogue organized to define a calendar of discussions for the next 18 months. “The Prime Minister talks a lot about dialogue. He puts quality into it, we will say, including stressing that we can sometimes agree, sometimes disagree ”, did he declare.

Postponement of discussions on pensions and unemployment insurance reform on hiatus

First victory for the unions, the postponement of discussions on pension reform in 2021, announced by Jean Castex. “We will remain in disagreement on the very principle of this pension reform. I told him again, but here it is, for the moment, it is postponed ”, confirmed on general secretary of Force Ouvrière.

The provisions of the unemployment insurance reform as a whole are also postponed, according to Yves Veyrier. “It was I who asked the question precisely to the Prime Minister at the last moment, asking him to clarify what was happening precisely with the provisions which had entered into force on 1 November”, explained the trade unionist, in particular on “The passage from four months to six months to enter the rights and the right to top-up which has been reduced from one month to six months and which makes life very difficult for the most precarious workers.” The secretary general of FO indicated that the Prime Minister answered him and that he hopes “That it will indeed be this, that we reinstate the previous provisions of the agreement which had been negotiated in 2017 and that everything was postponed at best to January 2021, with that of April 1 which was already postponed to September”.

The general secretary of Force Ouvrière welcomes “a victory” for all job seekers and “For all those who suffer the consequences of the reform of unemployment insurance. It is a victory for the most precarious ”, he said.
